North Cyprus – Events – Girne Municipality – Traffic Awareness Day – 15th May 2016

Girne Municipality

Traffic Awareness Day

By Ralph Kratzer

Child in TrafficIt has come to my attention that Girne Municipality (Belediyesi) are organising a traffic awareness day on Sunday, 15th May 2016 from 10:30 to 13:30, to create awareness and to draw attention to the problems weaker participants in road traffic like cyclists, motorcyclists, pedestrians, people with disabilities and especially children have to face day by day.

After a march and a vehicle parade the groups will gather in the Girne Old Harbour where different events and music concerts will be presented on stage.

Disabled persons and pedestrians will start at Ramadan Cemil Square (Girne Belediyesi building), walk through Zia Rızkı Street towards Ataturk Avenue, and will finish their march in the Old Harbour.

Participating cyclists and motorcyclists will start at the same place and drive through Zia Rızkı Street, moving towards Mete Adanır Street, Bedrettin Demirel Street and Ecevit Street, to end as well  in the Old Harbour.

About tfrsecretary

Born in Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany in 1957, I was educated at a Baccalaureate High School. Later completed Technical University with a degree in Economic Informatics. I served for 12 years in the German Army before joining a French computer company for another 10 years. Then ran my own motorcycle and gastronomy businesses before deciding to retire. I arrived in North Cyprus with my second wife in 2004 and since her sad loss in 2011, I have kept myself very busy trying to help others with similar problems and in 2012 became the Secretary of “The Foreign Residents in the TRNC” (TFR). I am very keen to see expat communities coming together and playing their part in helping North Cyprus, our adopted homeland.
