Chef´s Choice – Homemade BBQ-Sauces

Balsamico-Molasses Sauce

BBQ TimeSummertime is BBQ time. And a good barbecue meal tradtionally includes delicious sauces. Of course, nowadays you can find a wide range of prefabricated sauces in the supermarket shelves, but it’s also fun to create your own sauces. To give you readers a few suggestions, I publish a little series of quick and easy recipes for homemade barbecue sauces.

Your imagination has no limits, changing and complementing the recipes to your taste!

MolassesIngredients

  • 120 ml ketchup
  • 120 ml water
  • 2 tbsp molasses (black treacle)
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar (Balsamico)
  • 1 tbsp hot mustard
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tspn salt
  • 1 tspn hot pepper sauce (Tabasco or similar)
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • freshly ground black pepper (to taste)

Preparation

BBQ Balsamico Molasses sauceMix ketchup, water, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, mustard, sugar, salt, hot pepper sauce and garlic together in a big enough saucepan and place over medium heat.

Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer the whole lot, stirring continously, another 10 minutes.

Season with black pepper to taste.

Remove from heat plate and allow to cool down.

The full flavour develops when you put the sauce into the fridge over night. before serving.
