Leaders met again today

President Mustafa Akıncı and Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Anastasiades met again today as part of the intensified negotiation process.


Today’s meeting was the Leaders’ fifth meeting in the second round of intensified negotiations. The two leaders will meet again on 7, 10 and 14 September, with a view to holding a total of eight meetings.

The meeting was held at the UN building allocated for the negotiations in the buffer zone in Lefkoşa at 10.00 am…… 

Agriculture and Natural Resources Minister calls for Turkish Cypriot rights under the Green Line Regulations to be properly implemented

The Agriculture and Natural Resources Minister Nazım Çavuşoğlu stated that the rights of Turkish Cypriots under to the Green Line Regulation should be properly implemented.


Minister Çavuşoğlu said that potato producers are right to have concerns, especially considering the incident that occurred in South Cyprus recently, in which a Greek Cypriot trader was protested for importing potatoes from the North.

Yeşilada, Chairman of the Potato Producers’ Union, stated that Turkish Cypriots want to implement the Direct Trade Regulation in order to sell their products freely via North Cyprus ports, as they experience difficulties with the Green Line Regulation.

Önen: “We share information to tackle crime but Greek Cypriots are unwilling to extradite Turkish Cypriot criminals”

The Turkish Cypriot Team Leader of the Technical Committee on Crime and Criminal Issues, Lawyer Hakkı Önen, stated that “We share information with the Greek Cypriots in order to tackle crime but they are unwilling to extradite Turkish Cypriot criminals who have escaped to South Cyprus.”


Önen stated that a request to return 19 Turkish Cypriots who committed an offence in the North and escaped to South Cyprus was rejected by officials from South Cyprus.

Greek Cypriot religious ceremonies held in Geçitkale and Yenierenköy


Greek Cypriot religious ceremonies were held in two villages, Geçitkale and Yenierenköy. DISI Deputy Yeorgios Karullas and many other Greek Cypriots attended the ceremony at Sotira Church, while  two other DISI Deputies, Kiriakos Hacıyannis and Onufrios Kulias, attended the ceremony held in Yenierenköy.

Ministry of Tourism and Environment has organized the “North Cyprus Tourism Marketing Competition”

The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has organized the “North Cyprus Tourism Marketing Competition.”


According to a statement by the Ministry, 35 companies participated in the competition which was announced a month and a half ago.

As part of the competition, public relations and advertising companies from Turkey and the TRNC outlined how they could promote the TRNC as a tourist destination in their target markets.
